Moncler Korea fined in South Korea for privacy lapses in 2021 data breach

( September 11, 2025, 04:03 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Moncler Korea has been fined a combined 88.2 million won (about $63,000) by South Korea’s privacy regulator for weak security controls and late reporting of a 2021 data breach. The Personal Information Protection Commission said the breach occurred when hackers obtained an employee’s administrator account in advance, used it to push malware through the company’s domain controller, exfiltrated personal data on about 230,000 individuals and encrypted existing files. The regulator found that the company failed to enforce multi-factor authentication for access to its personal-information systems and notified both users and authorities later than the 24-hour reporting deadline then in force.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
